Install MXFS for the first time
To install MXFS on your windows based system you will need the Object Matrix provided install packages and follow the steps below:
-
Install the provided Dokan Library
Dokan has to be installed prior to MXFS.
The provided Dokan Library install package will be the redistribution package that is named similar to > DokanSetup_redist_*_*_*.exe
- Install the provided version of MXFS
The package name should be similar to: MXFS_Setup-*.*.*.*.exe.
In essence there are two ways to install MXFS. As a standalone client, or as a service. If MXFS is installed as a service, a new Windows Service will be created on your system. it will be named: MXFS Service. This service will start with your windows system. If MXFS is installed as a standalone client, in order to mount your vaults the application has to be started when necessary.
Upgrading MXFS
To upgrade your existing MXFS on a system, a very important component to consider is the Dokan Library. It must be removed completely before upgrading MXFS.
All necessary packages will be provided by Object Matrix. The procedure to follow with the upgrade consists in four steps:
- Remove completely the existing Dokan Library from your system
- Reboot your system ( mandatory for a successful upgrade )*
- Install the new provided Dokan Library
The provided Dokan Library install package will be the redistribution package that is named similar to > DokanSetup_redist_*_*_*.exe - Install the provided new version of MXFS
The package name should be similar to: MXFS_Setup-*.*.*.*.exe.
*If this particular step is not observed, your system will likely have problems mounting vaults after upgrading your software.
